**2025 Summer Junior Golf Program Details**
Our summer junior golf program will be conducted on Wednesday afternoons beginning July 9th, with an orientation on June 25th, and finishing on August 27th with a skills competition and Awards BBQ. Juniors between the ages of 8 and 17 are welcome (younger ages with staff approval). Cost for the program is $150 for a junior of a current Michelbook member in good standing with the club. The rate for a junior whose family is not a member at Michelbook will be $225. The fees will include: 8 clinic days with Michelbook’s golf professional staff plus a Michelbook Junior Golf 2025 polo style shirt. The 8th clinic will be a game day with various age appropriate challenges. Arrival time for everyone on this day will be 4:30pm and competitions will run for 1.5 hours. Clinic times will be 4:30pm, 5:30pm, and 6:30pm every other day.
**Summer Junior Golf Activities**
The Program will focus on short game, putting, and the full swing. We also cover a multitude of topics including safety, sun protection, golf course etiquette, and pace of play. Our program will be conducted like last year. We will have small groups for instruction then unlimited play following instruction if accompanied by an adult or, with permission from the instructors, to play unaccompanied.
We will divide the juniors into groups of 15 players or less who will meet for 45 minutes of instruction each week (short game group/putting group/full swing group). We will have 3 stations- the short game practice area for short game instruction and games, the practice putting green for putting instruction and putting games, and the range deck for full swing instruction. We will have one third of the group at each station for approximately 10-15 minutes.
**On Course**
Following instruction, juniors have the option to play the golf course if accompanied by an adult volunteer. Juniors planning to play need to check in with the golf shop prior to play. Juniors will be able to play 1 to 9 holes (depending on skill level and guardian/volunteer availability). We will ask parents/grandparents/guardians to volunteer to be walkers for those groups.
**Parent/Guardian Walkers**
In order for the playing portion of the program to be successful, we need the help of parent and grandparent volunteers. Volunteers ensure our program runs in a safe and timely manner. We may need several volunteers each week to accompany the junior groups on the course to help with pace of play and to ensure a safe playing experience. The Intro groups (beginners) will require at least one adult walker. If a group does not have an adult walker to accompany them on the course, they will not be able to play due to safety concerns.
**Dress Code**
Parents, guardians, volunteers, and juniors should adhere to the Michelbook dress code when they are at the club. For men and boys this means wearing a collared shirt with neat shorts or pants. For women and girls, shorts and skorts must be to the mid-thigh in length. Sleeveless tops must have a collar for women and girls. Running shorts and tights are not acceptable attire for the golf course. Additionally, caps must be worn in the conventional manner (not reversed). Please call the golf shop if you have any questions regarding the dress code, (503) 472-2129 Ext. 6.
**Golf Clubs**
All children are encouraged to bring their own clubs, as Michelbook has a limited number of junior clubs (no sets). If you are interested in ordering a set of clubs, please come into the pro shop and one of the staff members will be happy to assist you. Golf club shipments take approximately fourteen days.
**Summer Program Awards Banquet**
Following the completion of the Junior Skills Challenge, there will be an awards ceremony and BBQ on August 28rd beginning around, 6pm. We will present the program awards other prizes during the award ceremony following play.
**Summer Junior Golf Registration**
Registration for the Junior Golf Program will be open from May 1 through June 20th. We will assign juniors to a clinic time by the Orientation on June 25th. If you have a preferred clinic time for your junior, we will try to accommodate your request.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email Michael Blinco at [michaelb@michelbook.com](mailto:michaelb@michelbook.com) or call the golf shop at (503) 472-2129 Ext. 6.
